THE PROPOSITION:

The "Stop Illegal Hiring Act" guts the primary enforcement mechanisms of the current employer sanctions law:

• abolishes the required use of E-Verify
• requires Arizona to wait until the Federal Government has taken action against an employer before the state may take action
• exempts thousands of Arizona employers
• eliminates the "silent witness" portion of the law
• imposes an impossible "standard of proof"

"Stop Illegal Hiring" sounds good, but is a veiled attempt to deceive voters by masking it as a concept with which we all agree.  This proposition is "employer amnesty" and will nullify HB2779, our current law, which is already working well and is considered to be the model legislation for the rest of the country!  Don't let the name fool you!  Those supporting this measure intend to make hiring of illegals easier and with less chance of penalty.  DO NOT BE DECEIVED!
